lg Charly
Um was gehts?
Was ist unser Ziel?
ENGLISH We are sorry if you find some mistakes in the translation. If you might have questions, feel free to ask us!
Red = Important | Green = Update
What's it about? Fans from all over the world are invited! We’ve chosen a paper, which is in the size of a huge poster (real size is going to be determined when the amount of members are established), which is going to be sent all over the world and every participating fan should write a “Hello” to the boys in his or her mother language on it. Every one of you is sending it to another fan by yourselfs; the order will be made by the moderators. Arriving back at my place in Germany, the poster will be framed and handed over to the guys.
What's our goal? With the various handwritings and “hello’s” in every imaginable language, we want to show Tokio Hotel how many different people are supporting them and which country the guys can expand their success. And we definitely want to show them where to start over.
How to join: Everyone who wants to say “hello” to the boys can join us of course, and who is really able to send the poster on its way around the whole world. The registration starts on August 2nd and ends on October 2nd. The e-mail address is going to be posted on Aug 2nd in this start post and on some fan pages like th-wonderland.de. Because of the fact that we want people from all over the globe to join us, the registration limit takes about three months.
You have to deal with... - Different “agreements” that all of you have to read clearly, to confirm and need to follow (we’re not able to prove it finally but we hope you keep those things in mind) - You HAVE TO give us your address if you’re joining us. REASON WHY: we’re assigning another fan to you which you have to send the poster to after you’ve written on it.
You’ll get the name, last name, whole address and the country of the person you’re going to send it to.
You’re getting an e-mail with all information which can look like this: John Doe & -> YOU -> Jane Doe, any street, any city, any country.
So we exactly know the order and where the poster has to be, because we do not want our poster to get lost somewhere in the world. This is how we can contact the affected people.
IF ANYONE DOESNT WANT TO GIVE US THE ADRESS, CANNOT BE PART OF THIS ACTIVITY! BUT WE ALL PROMISE TO DEAL WITH YOUR ADDRESSES PRIVATLY, ONLY FOUR PEOPLE WHICH WOULD BE THE SENDER, THE RECIPIENT, MIRJAM AND ME. [if we need support, our co-mod’s are getting the rights to interact with your addresses, but all of you will get informed if anything is going to turn out like this.] - Depending on how many members we’ve got, the poster could take a long time journey, especially if there are members from other continents than Europe. So because of this the finishing of it could take a very long time, but don’t get impatient. If every one of you sends the poster on quickly, everything is getting on faster. (Writing “hello” is not that big deal isn’t it?) - The minute we organized the member’s information, we will inform ourselves about the shipping overseas. The envelope will get weighed and, as a help for you, we will calculate the prices in any country.
Poster design I will assume the costs for the poster, the frame and so on and also the designing. The designing is still in planning, but there will be: - A headline (your ideas are welcome) - If there is some space left over, flags of every country will take place on it to. - It would be a regular white poster You’ll get the poster with a table/chart on it in which every member has his own box (later more information). This chart is going to be erased very carefully by me when the poster arrives at my house at the end.
We’re open for new ideas but remember: we want to keep it easy and cheep. As soon as I get started with the designing I’ll post photos of my drafts. Feel free to integrate yourself!
If you get the poster.. - First point (VERY IMPORTANT): you have to inform us about the arriving of the poster at your home immediately and also when you send it on. Please send us an Mail if you get it and if you send it to another. - We do not assume the shipping charges - You don’t have to buy a new envelope; you can use the one which the poster was on when it arrived at yours. Just stamp it new and adequate - There will be a letter in the package, which represents the agreements for the whole action and the way you have to interact with the poster. It is also a reference book for the time the poster is in your keeping. DO NOT throw this letter away. You have to put it back into the package and send it on with the poster. If the letter is missing just at the arrival of the package at yours, please inform us about it immediately! We’ll send you the letter back as an email and you should print it out and put it back in the package. - You’ll find a chart with identical boxes on the poster, one for each “hello” of a fan. We do not have a problem with you drawing little hearts or smiles in your box. But we DO NOT want any phone numbers, oaths of love, addresses, names, lyrics, names of the boys, etc. on it! We ask to neglect these things otherwise the whole work would have been for nothing. Besides the boys won’t even notice or take it seriously. Moreover so not put any other presents in the package so that the costs for you and others rise. WE ASK TO RESPECT THESE THINGS; OTHERWISE YOU WOULD DESTROY THE GENERAL VIEW AND THE MEANING OF THE POSTER! - You’re allowed to write with colored pens. But do not pencils, or fillers and do not use the color yellow. Also no tip-ex; if you make a mistake, leave it and do not try to fix it. - Please do not doodle on the poster especially outside your table-box. Be careful with the poster. - If you damage the poster or it already is at its arrival at your home, please inform us and send a picture of the happening with your e-mail.
The last time German rockers Tokio Hotel were in town, they played an acoustic showcase - a far cry from Humanoid City, the ballsy show they've been touring recently. This time round, when Tokio Hotel return to our shores for Singfest, they promise to rock out - albeit on a smaller scale than Humanoid City.
"We will have a full electric show, but we won't be able to bring the whole set for Humanoid City," said Tokio Hotel singer Bill Kaulitz over the phone. "But it's going to be a great show anyway."
What do you expect this time?
We expect great weather. And great audiences. Well, you know, we'd rather see the fans one-to-one than just read about them or hear about them on the Internet. This time we can see them face-to-face and see their reactions and emotions. That's always a great thing. So we're excited.
Did you see much of Singapore and try the local food last time?
The schedule was really, really tough the last time, so we didn't see the whole city and all our fans, but it was fantastic. We just ate pasta, pizza and things like that. Maybe we'll get to try some this time.
Brothers in a band aren't always a good idea. Look at Oasis. How well do you get along with Tom?
I think because we're identical twins, it's a little different. There's a connection there, it's something special. We're like one person - can't live without each other. I mean, we have fights sometimes, but five minutes later, we'll forget about it. Tommy and me, we've done everything together our whole lives. It's an enormous thing for us to be in the same band and doing all this together.
You guys were teens when you started. Any advice for young bands?
It's hard in the beginning, especially if you are very young, with people talking sh** about you. But when you're doing good music at 15 ... that's a good thing. To be successful, though, it's a lot of luck - you have to be at the right place at the right time. And a lot of hard work. We made the decision and we just wanted to go for it and do music our whole lives. We didn't care what happened. It's important to keep that goal in mind to go professional.
So you didn't think to do anything else after school?
Tom and me, we started to make music when we were seven. After school, we went directly into the rehearsal room. There was never a Plan B. If we weren't picked up by the label, I think we could have been homeless musicians, maybe. We would play anywhere - in front of five or in front of thousands. But it's better to play in front of thousands! We are really lucky to have this life. I feel really blessed.
There's no doubt about it: Tokio Hotel is one of the biggest bands this year and they have their fans to thank them for. That's why the boys kept gushing about you in this exclusive interview.
You guys put on a terrific show here in Malaysia back in May 2010. What do you miss most about Malaysia? Bill: When we first came, we were so surprised because everyone was so friendly and we had a warm welcome, so we definitely missed the people and the weather, of course! But on stage, it gets a little too hot and we're not used to it; we were on a European tour and it was cold everywhere. But it was great and we look forward to the show!
What can fans expect from your performance at the MTV World Stage? B: This time it's going to be bigger: production-wise and special-effects like electric shower. It's going to be really, really cool. We did think about playing naked [laughs]. I wanted to bring my costumes with me from the European tour but I think it will be too hot. Maybe something more casual this time.
It's been two months since we last saw you in May. What have you guys been up to? B: We were in the studio and we did some promotional tour in Europe. We just launched our new DVD 'Humanoid City Live' and we recorded this at Milano. It's a fantastic live DVD and we had a lot of fun doing this. We also recorded a live album and a new video 'Darkside of The Sun'. You are set to perform at MTV World Stage with the likes of Katy Perry and Wonder Girls. Who are you most excited to meet? B: I'm most excited to meet the fans and the crowd. I've never heard about the Wondergirls; they're a completely new band to us. But, the fans are incredible and we're looking forward to our own show and concert. Tom: For all of us, we're looking forward to our performance and I'm a big fan of Tokio Hotel, so I can't wait to see them live! And they have such a beautiful guitar player! [laughs]
Back in 2008, Katy Perry dedicated her controversial song 'Ur So Gay' to you for beating her to the 'Best New Artiste' Award. Are you flattered? B: I seriously feel sorry for her that we won! Well, the best band wins [laughs]. And everyone knows we have the best fans in the world!
Tell us more about your fans. B: They are loyal and they're always there for us. It feels like a whole family on the road; we have some fans who are always at our shows in Europe. We have Tokio Hotel TV and the Internet that we can always check and keep in touch with them.
We understand that Bill and Tom are turning 21 this year. Would you like any presents from your fans? B: You know, I like diamonds and Ferrari! I like it when fans write us songs and post video messages to us. George will be buying us a Ferrari and a diamond ring! T: Oh, we have a rule in the band: no presents for nobody as it would be too expensive! We've known each other for ten years and to buy amazing presents for four great people, we thought, we don't want that stress! We just have a great time together. And we party! Let's say George had a party when he's on tour and that was really sweet. Our bus driver arranged for a party in the tour bus! So I gave him a real, warm hug. Georg: That's what we wish for every year.
We'll give you a hug for the success of 'Humanoid' as well. B: We are so proud of this record because it's always hard to record the third album as a band. But it was exactly how we wanted; we tried new stuff in the studio and it worked live on stage. Everything's working great, especially the European tour, Malaysia and Asia, and now we're better than ever.
What's next for Tokio Hotel after MTV World Stage 2010? B: Erm, we are going on a short trip to South America, and after that we go back to Europe to do more promo tours, followed by the studio to write new songs. Hopefully we get a vacation and some time off. It was a long year for us!
Where would you like to go for a vacation? B: We like small islands. We always go to the Maldives, which is so beautiful. We've been there, I don't know [pauses] it's the most beautiful place in the world. I really like to go somewhere quiet where there is the beach, ocean and nothing else.
Since your band's name is Tokio Hotel, do you have any weird hotel experiences? B: Yes, we've been to many hotels on our travels and we have a few favourites like the one in Singapore, actually. And we had some bad experience like this hotel in South Africa where we had our video shoot, it was called a hotel but it wasn't a hotel, really. It was like a small bungalow to fit everyone and there was camping involved! It was so f**king cold in the room and there was no heater! Nothing to eat, no Internet and water too! That was really an experience for us.
What do you guys listen to on your iPod? B: It's a mixture of Aerosmith to pop stuff; I don't have this one band locked down but most of the time, I listen to this band called Tokio Hotel. Georg: I really like the new record by 30 Seconds to Mars. I listen to it all the time. Gustav: I listen to Devilish.
